Happy Earth Day!

It is the 45th anniversary since Gaylord Nelson (Wisconsin Senator) founded Earth Day.

Everyone can make a difference in reducing PACKAGING in the land fills.

Here are some tips in reducing PACKAGING waste.

1) Reduce, reuse, & recycle

Reduce your use of packaging by shopping in the bulk food section at your grocery store.

And while doing so, reuse a cereal/plastic bag for the packaging of the bulk food.

And when you visit your grocery store, remember to recycle your plastic bags.  Most retailers are offering a recycling service for plastic bags.

2) Conserve water

Instead of rinsing the container with fresh water in the sink, place it in the dishwasher along with your dishes for a cleaning cycle.  Or rinse the container in the dirty dish water that is ready to be discarded.

3) Buy eco friendly products & packaging

Avoid buying product within aerosol cans.  Most recycling services will not accept aerosol cans.

Buy products that are concentrated such as laundry detergent or cleaning supplies.  The reduction in product saves on packaging & transportation (i.e. energy).

4)  Cook from scratch

Nothing is packaged.  The food is not processed.  And there is no waste.
